Does Highland Primary Care accept Medicare?

Yes. Highland Primary Care is a Medicare-participating provider. We accept Original Medicare (Parts A & B), most Medicare Advantage plans, and Medicare Supplement (Medigap) policies. Please call our office at (903) 871-5399 to verify your specific plan.

What is covered during the Annual Wellness Visit?

The Annual Wellness Visit includes a comprehensive health risk assessment, review of your complete medical and family history, current medications review, personalized prevention plan, depression and cognitive screenings, height, weight, and blood pressure measurements, and an updated immunization and screening schedule. This visit is covered at no cost to you with Original Medicare.

What is the "Welcome to Medicare" preventive visit?

The "Welcome to Medicare" visit is a one-time preventive visit available within the first 12 months of your Part B coverage. It includes a thorough review of your health history, education about preventive services and screenings covered by Medicare, and referrals as needed. There is no cost to you for this visit.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring your Medicare card (red, white, and blue card), any supplemental insurance cards, a complete list of current medications including dosages, your photo ID, any relevant medical records or recent lab results, and a list of your current healthcare providers.

Do I need a referral to see a specialist?

With Original Medicare, you generally do not need a referral to see a specialist. However, if you have a Medicare Advantage plan, you may need a referral depending on your plan's rules. Our office will help coordinate referrals and ensure seamless communication with your specialists regardless of your plan type.
